Recently authorized by the Department of Territory and Environment of the Sicilian Region through the PAUR procedure, as per art. 27-bis of the Unified Environmental Code, D.A. no. 301/GAB of 09/25/2024.
The planned interventions will allow for:
- Improving the treatment of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste processed by the existing Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant;
- Treating the organic fraction of municipal waste from separate collection (FORSU);
- Producing biofertilizers and/or high-quality compost from FORSU;
- Producing biomethane from both FORSU and the undersized material derived from the existing MBT plant.
